Social Work

Social work opportunities help our participants be more involved with the community. By participating in activities or programs that involve assisting the community, our participants build good rapport and help develop their communication skills with others outside of the Day Program.

  • Reaching Out Center at Cathedral of Faith

Reaching out Center provide nutritious groceries and fresh produce at distribution sites throughout Silicon Valley. Apollo ADP assists with this volunteer-run organization by organizing and packaging fresh produce.

  • The Salvation Army—Produce Distribution and Senior Lunch Program

We are a part of two teams at the Salvation Army—Produce Packing and Senior Lunch Program. Once a week, Second Harvest Food Bank delivers bulk produce for Salvation Army recipients. We work with their team to quickly bag and sort the bulk produce. Senior Lunch is offered Monday-Friday. We clean up, set up tables and chairs, and prepare the area for the next meal.

  • San Jose Public Library

Prior to the library opening, our individuals assist with a variety of tasks to prepare the library for in-coming patrons.

  • City of San Jose Anti-Litter & Anti-Graffiti Program

We have teamed up with the City of San Jose to safely pick up litter at our local parks and designated pick-areas.

  • Our City Forest

Our City Forest focuses on urban forestry and environmental education in the Silicon Valley. We volunteer at their nursery to complete various jobs to plan trees in the community.
